so i probably read your blog when you wrote about that one thing you made for the holidays that was fabulous and new and probably difficult and therefore impressive to make…

and i probably drooled.
then i probably went right on with my day with no intention to do the same.

that’s not really me, but i just haven’t had the motivation to create as it relates to food this season, which is REALLY not me!

i like food. a lot. i have just been in a funk with dinners because we have been so busy and well maybe my creative juices are just occupied at the moment with designing and christmas and all that. so we eat pasta and blah blah meals cause its just how it is.

yesterday, i had a cookie exchange to go to and as i was on my way out the door to go to the store, cc walked in! at 3:30 in the afternoon!!

it was more than what i needed since this week has been so long already.

we went to the store and even picked up some new fun things for dinner.
then i made the cookie recipe my mom said i was allowed to share.  they were cuties.

cc’s company gave us locally grown,
18-yr old balsalmic and lemon olive oil as a christmas gift
so we got some fresh mozzarella and basil and made the
tastiest caprese i’ve ever had.
{ps – its the only way cc eats tomatoes}
such a nice break from pasta and burritos.

then we made cookies.

sugar dip cuties
{aptly renamed my be and written as dictated by my mother}

take:
1 cup butter {2 sticks}
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg

cream together.
whip the bajeebers outta them and make them real fluffy.

“don’t you think ‘bajeebers’ is a little technical?”
“no, bajeebers is the correct technical term here.”

add:
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract

sift first, then add:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp of cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt

“really? it has to be sifted, mom?”
“yes. get a sifter. wait, you don’t have a sifter?!”

mix well and roll into 1 inch balls
roll each ball in sugar.
colored sugar.
if you don’t have colored sugar – color it.

bake 9-10 minutes @350 and take em out.
DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO BROWN!

“how do i know when they’re done then?”
“take them out after 9-10 mintues!”

go check out the other ladies and see what’s cookin at their abodes!
