i feel high as a kite.

lets say that our little jaunt to san diego this weekend was very successful.

we celebrated cc’s 31st birthday at a friends’ place.
she made yummy dinner for us and let us laugh with them all night.
after a day of searching for homes, it was exactly what we needed.

{i was sad that it was a little anti-climatic of a birthday for him, but after he opened his remote control helicopter and 2 terabyte hard drive, he agreed this was a good year.}

we spent all sunday looking for our home.
we were sure we would end up in a place a little farther from the job site,
which meant farther from family.

my aunt {mindy} had been doing recon for us and lo and behold, a space became available near her just last week.  she told us the price, and we were floored.  no where can you find a place that far west for the price we needed.

we went to see it and decided that maybe the place wasn’t as cute or new as we wanted or as other places we had seen that were further away with lots more space, but by the end of the night, we both felt the silence of peace that we needed to say yes to the offer.

the owner was going to list it on craigslist on sunday and waited.
had she listed it, at that price, it would have been gone in a day.

yesterday we signed a lease, and the place felt more like ours the minute we walked in.
my brain kept me up with the many project ideas to make our cute little place feel more like home.

we drove 5 minutes to cc’s work from there, about 5 minutes to the beach,
and the best part?  5 minutes to family.

i can’t think of anything more home than that.
