Adding Curtains changed up my beachy bedroom and this gallery wall tied it all in! We have lived in this small condo for over 3 years. We love this place. It feels like home, and the longer we live in San Diego, the more we are inspired by it. By the beach, the people here. It’s a place for dreamers to make it happen, and it’s palpable. We have spent the last few years doing what we can to make this space ours, updating corners here and there, but our bedroom never did get pretty in the hustle.

beach decor bedroom using teal, gray, and yellow Of all the furniture I’ve painted in my lifetime, and it’s been a lot, I do love my headboard, and I finally have bedding I love, so when I looked through Eva Longoria’s collection {which I love!} I was oddly most inspired by her curtains, and how much they brought each look together. So I snagged a set and immediately started searching and collecting items for my wall. Then I realized that old entertainment unit would cover it up and leave the room feeling dark. We got rid of it completely, and then I was thinking, “but my shoe hutch needs a makeover then…” so it got whitewashed. Everything got a bright facelift. As I cleaned the corners of my room {that probably haven’t been since we moved in}, I was thinking about how much drapes can change the whole vibe of a room!! I never would have thought of drapes first, but they inspired a makeover! Knowing I had a few darker pieces I wanted on the wall, I also grabbed a pillow from the collection with the subtle black geo-print to tie it all in. I love how much the simplest of changes can upgrade a room. I’m not really the type to go for all one print anywhere, so I like grabbing pops of color or prints here or there to keep it fresh.

Eva Longoria Home Collection Only At JCPenney Launch EventEva’s collection, designed for JCPenney Home is inspired by her travels to Turkey, Morocco, and Spain. My room is inspired by my current home because, well, I haven’t been many places, but also because I feel the most inspired here, near the water, near these big dreamers, and in the calm. People come HERE to vacation, and I grew up coming here and loving this place so I love using beach decor and colors to celebrate that. Life may not be perfect, but I DO live in paradise, so there’s that. So bring on the teal and gray and bright white and we can just pretend I live in a beach house ok? I always have beach decor ideas in my head running around now… In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not at all a calm human. So having a bedroom that brings peace is a must. The rest of my house “looks like an Easter egg threw up all over” as my brother would say. And he’s not wrong… Here’s the before and afters of our bedroom.
