a word about tv:
we are weird. and we don’t pay for cable, or even regular tv.
and yet, we watch A LOT of it.
and it’s funny, cause you know once you get settled in with friends over for dinner, it’s one of the first questions that comes up… “what shows do you guys watch?”
i mean, between hulu plus and netflix
and our computer connected to the 55 inches on the wall,
we still watch plenty of tv.
i thought we’d miss it and eventually break down.
in fact, the AT&T chick showed up and almost talked us into spending another $50 a month just to have a few extra channels… when we told her what we were able to get with our hulu plus and what cc can find online… she stopped selling.
our internet + hulu + netflix bills = $66
and we have plenty to watch.
and hulu plus keeps adding more… and they show up in our que like a dvr,
only it can record more than 2 shows at a time… cause it’s just whatever you want.
if b and i sit down to watch tv in the mornings {which we do almost every morning}
we watch an episode of sesame street “emmo”, dora, or diego, “diego-go” and it’s on netflix, so no commercials. and then we’re done for the day…
unless i have tons of work to do or feel too awful to move…
then he gets a few more…
but i dont worry about it one bit.
and i dont even feel guilty sharing it.
i have a cousin that didn’t have tv and i thought she was crazy.
she had 4 little dudes and she made a comment that now makes a lot of sense to me about why she chose not to have tv at her house, “my kids don’t know what they don’t know.”
she was meaning, commercial tv. if they’ve never seen a race car commercial with all those hot wheels and tracks…. why would they ask for it for christmas?
good point.
yes, of course, since they go through movie phases they were all obsessed with woody and buzz so i’m not sure that’s really something you can avoid altogether, but hey.
in our case, boss asks me, every morning, if he can watch emmo.
it’s part of the routine now, so we do. i know some who are very particular about “screen time” and set timers and schedules and limit the amount of minutes a day cause they probably read an article somewhere that said their kids would be stupid if they did….
i’m not that mom.
anyway, with that said, we watch a lot of tv
between 8-10pm.
cause just like my kid likes a swallow of warm milk to settle in at night,
so does his dad….
it’s called couch time.
and he won’t go to bed without it.
here are the shows we like to watch up in this clifford house…
{this season}
the middle
psych
mob doctor
castle
revolution
nashville
up all night
new girl
suburgatory
parks & recreation
raising hope
modern family
community
bones
sherlock
and ones we marathon on netflix in-between shows…
parenthood
alias
lie to me
{i know i know… i will start downton soon…}
you’d better tell me if there is another great show we should be watching…
cause we’ll probably watch it…
We did the same thing switching away from cable to Hulu/Netflix. I swear we are watching just as much or more TV now. It's completely addicting.

the lowercase h
We watch just as many shows and most of them are the same ones you watch! We always joke that we watch more TV now then when we had cable because when you have cable you can only watch one show at time and if two shows you want to see are on at the same time then you are just screwed. With Hulu and netflix we can watch them all hahaha
Meg! 3 little words.. Call The Midwife (PBS online, you can thank me later)
2 words. White Collar.
I adore TV. I could never give it up. But I am SO tired of paying $175 for internet/cable/home phone (because it's part of the stupid package). My husband & I are trying to cut costs & I have GOT to look into Hulu Plus. We have Netflix streaming already so this may be something we have to do!
