this is just getting ridiculous.
i know, why would you ever need to make your own homemade snickers?
just sounds like pure heaven wrapped in satan’s bacon, right?
well, yeah. you’d be right.
but i saw this recipe and thought,
i bet if we threw in the real caramel,
this could really be ridiculous.
and i just had to try…
after making the caramel real fast, i only needed a few other ingredients for these,
and i have to say, i like em so much more than the twix bars even…
these taste so much like the real thing, that it would be hilarious to bring to a party or a shower.
“what? you mean you MADE these?!” yeah. chew on that…
homemade snickers bars
makes one 9×13 panbottom chocolate layer
1 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup peanut butterthoroughly grease your pan {i used a 1/2 sheet aluminum pan so it popped right out}. melt ingredients together in the microwave about 20 seconds at a time until melted completely, then pour into the baking dish and spread until even. let cool and harden completely.
nougat layer
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups marshmallow fluff
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 cup salted peanuts chopped, roughly chopped
1 tsp vanilla extractmelt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. add in sugar and milk, stirring until dissolved and bring to a boil. cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. add in fluff, peanut butter and vanilla, stirring until smooth. turn off heat and fold in peanuts, then pour over bottom chocolate layer. let cool completely.
caramel layer
1 14-ounce bag of caramels
1/4 cup whipping creamcombine ingredients in a saucepan over low heat. stir occasionally until smooth – about 10 minutes. pour over nougat layer and let cool completely.
{or, whip up a real batch of caramel using this recipe. use only about 1/3 of the recipe and pour over the nougat layer. not going to lie, i’m pretty sure the caramel is what made this happen…}
top chocolate layer
1 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup peanut buttermelt as before in the microwave, then pour over caramel and spread until even.
let cool and harden completely.refrigerate for at least one hour before serving, then cut as desired. these can stay at room temperature, but they will melt a bit. i say leave em in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
hot tip: we used the chocolate layer with peanut butter to dip our caramel dipped pretzel’s in… tasted like a take 5 bar. AMAZING!
enjoy!
i have been snackin on both of these since this weekend… so i am going to need to make some visits to get rid of these before i eat them all! i do, after all, have weight to lose people!
{i know, and i’m making chocolate… oh well.}
OMG can we get a YES!! haha This looks amazing and I am making these treats this week! TFS
