warm soft and a hint of sweet. goes with dinner…. or not… 馃槈
and an awesome back-to-school giveaway from Silhouette you won’t want to miss!
i haven’t been eating many carbs lately, despite what it may look like on the blog,
but i was searching through pinterest last week when we were meal-planning, and i saw this one.
my hawaiian roll-lover/husband was drooling. we had to try em out!
{it has been SO HARD to keep a consistent meal-planning schedule going this summer. am i the only one having trouble? i just haven’t wanted to cook ANYTHING. so we’ve done lots of eating out, and i’m a little sad about it. alas, this is a great go-to for dinners that will hopefully soften the blow of back-to-school for some of you. {let’s be real. who is really sad about kids going back to school though…?}
hawaiian rolls were something that didn’t happen often in my home growing up because i was used to homemade bread. {i know, my mom is a bit of an overachiever.} she also had 4 huge boys to feed, so can you blame her for wanting to save the $30 a week it probably saved her in bread alone? what? i’m not dramatic. and i never exaggerate.
i remember buying hawaiian rolls in college just to have for myself. i would snack on em all the time or i would throw chicken salad on those babies for a quick lunch. they are beyond comfort food for me.
RECIPE NOTE: i used the exact amount of flour that was in this recipe, but i would recommend adding it slowly until the dough is still a bit sticky and soft. these were a thicker dough and i thought a bit more dense than the real deal. as long as you add up to the amount here {or slightly less}, it should ensure the light and fluffy roll we all know so well. and the nice thing is that you can leave out about 2 tablespoons of sugar for a less-sweet version and they are fab. we did that for the sliders i’ll share with you tomorrow… bomb.com is all i have to say!
