The perfect treat to take to girls’ night. And you know what goes down well with butter and sugar? A good ole accapella jam.
First things first, did you see the first Pitch Perfect? My husband and I LOVED it. I thought of having a girls’ night when the second one came out, but my lover put on a sad face, determined to watch it with me. We missed it in theatres, so we were stoked when it came out on video and we could plan a date night around it.
This weekend, we invited some friends over, {making sure of course that they saw and liked the first one too} and we watched Pitch Perfect 2 with them. (I just went for the 2 Blue-Ray Combo from Walmart.) It was such a fun movie to watch with friends!
We died laughing. I have to say, the second one is SO HILARIOUS. I don’t know if it was the company, or the fun night we were already having, but I laughed more than I have watching a movie in a long time. After it ended, and I realized that Elizabeth Banks directed it, I wasn’t surprised. Dang it, that woman knows her timing!
I also wanted to be sure we had a naughty dessert we could serve our friends during the movie. I literally scoured pinterest, and found a recipe that made me sing, you know, so it would fit our theme and all.
These Gooey Butter Bars had me drooling when I first saw them in photo-form, and I was on board when they said 5 ingredients! {I literally sang “UPGRADE!” Now we’re talkin. I think the original recipe was a Paula Deen, but this one has been all over and back. Just be sure to save it. This would make for such a fun girls’ night treat too. Movie included! After you make it once, you’ll have it memorized, so you can just go grab the 5 ingredients on your way over to girls’ night, make it there, and be an instant rock star. Sure, tons of sugar, but isn’t that what girls’ night is about?
These butter bars take a yellow cake mix and some eggs and butter, then press it into a pan and pour the naughty gooey part sugar, cream cheese, and eggs over the top and bake. It’s literally the easiest thing I have made for dessert in a long time. And, for the record, it made us all sing too. Or that may have been Fat Amy.

Be sure and head to Walmart to grab the exclusive Pitch Perfect 2 Blu-Ray/Soundtrack combo pack. Soundtrack includes some of my favorite songs from Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 (while supplies last).
