since it was the 75th anniversary of the golden gate bridge on sunday,
we decided saturday would be the perfect time to bike the beast.
we were right…
it was a perfect day.
a tad cold for us weather snobs,
but clear and sunny.
and it was the easy winner for
my favorite part of the trip.
this is one of those things i’m glad i waited to do
until i had my boyfriend/photographer with me.
a. it’s pretty romantic up there.
the view, the wind, the vastness…
b. we were mostly enjoying the art of the thing,
not the landmark-ness of it…
everyone has a picture of the bridge somewhere…
but we wanted to stop and take our time enjoying all the details and angles of it.
a heart-breaking thought:
how someone could get to this point,
look out over such a beautiful place,
and still find a reason not to live…
i couldn’t fathom it.
this was cool:
the USS Ohio on it’s last trip.
going to San Diego to become a monument…
some navy guy stopped and told us.
{or we wouldn’t have noticed}
i guess that explained the people with 1300 zoom lenses parked all along the bridge…
when you get to the other side,
you can bike to sausalito.
an eensty touristy town with little to do.
then after getting some ice cream,
sitting on the dock by the bay,
enjoying the sun…
hop on the ferry back to san francisco
sorry for you,
one more of these to go…
