i made my bed.
with the week i’ve had, that’s quite an accomplishment.
i feel like i’ve been a headless chicken
but i guess i really did make my bed, all of it,
and now i get to sleep in it.
…except for last night when i couldn’t…
{i was dreaming up all of the
places i wish we could go for our anniversary next month….
hours on groupon and checking flights….}
maybe next year.
with saggy dark eyes and a mop on my head,
i did make my bed.
this morning it took maybe 2 minutes,
but really took about 5 months…
for reference, the only picture i have of my former, ugly room…

there i was, laying in my red and brown room,
with nothing that matched, and feeling very bored.
{not a room in which you want to be bored.}
i figured it would be years until i really had a house,
so i had to fake it and just make the room what i wanted.
it was apartment therapy at first.
then the headboard. heavy as sin, and brown.
it had to go.
until: light bulb.
so i redid it.
…in what could easily be called my favorite color this year.
then, just before christmas, i finished my pintucked shams.
they weren’t too much trouble, and made me so happy.
then for christmas, my cute man gave me the sheets i had been swooning over from west elm,
but, because he is charming, he had them monogrammed.
i realized a bed isn’t a real bed without throws,
and i’ve never had any.
a little dye and a few pleats. NBD.
they inspired me to go for the duvet cover.
the duvet cover was a nightmare that involved more math than my little brain could handle and more tears than my husband could, but it ended on a high note.
in short, measure 12 times, cut once,
and let the math guy do all the math.
and done.
now go see what the other girls made this week!
