I had this crazy idea this year, being that this feels like our first “real” Christmas, that I wanted to do a “fun” tree, instead of something traditional. Which of course means, this is now one of two trees, so satisfy all of the needs in this house. I found so many adorable ornaments and then put together these DIY Gumball Machine Ornaments to add to the fun colorful Christmas tree vibe. I’m obsessed with how it looks in the already bright and colorful playroom and the room is filled with so much light during the day that it is so cheery all day long.
Many of these ornaments are from this year at Target, the line was called “Oh What Fun!” and they had me at cupcakes. But then the long boards and the bicycles did me in. At our house, riding our beach cruisers and long boards in a near daily event and I love all things teal, and the husband loves all things red. So I literally gasped when I saw them. I also thought it would be fun to fill the tree with lots of real candy too, so I found these perfect clear plastic ornaments on Amazon and bought some starburst reds to fill them. Every so often I catch a kid sneaking candy from it and I have to smile. If all of the candy is gone by Christmas, I won’t even be sad. I threw a little Oh What Fun banner in the tree just for fun too and I love it.
And the cans of Diet Coke?? I mean what is a girl to do? Then I just thought what would put it over the top is the gumboil machines. I ordered some on amazon before I realized that they didn’t need to be real ones. {Yes, I found mini gumball machines with dispensable gum inside. Then I promptly sold those to mom and purchased these mini buckets and some paint and my favorite candy in the world, the mini chewy Sweet Tarts to fill them. I made a quick video cause I could hardly stand it. They are so stinking cute!
