Another great restaurant in San Diego Restaurant Week. Cafe Coyote is one of the largest in Old Town!
It can be overwhelming to get into Old Town San Diego and know where to start in the food realm. I’ve tried a handful of them, and I think Cafe Coyote is one of the better ones. It’s one of the largest restaurants I’ve ever been to, but it really doesn’t feel like it because it is separated into lots of different sections and they have up to 72 servers. I was amazed at how short the wait was to get our food with so many people there. The manager told us all about how this restaurant can seat parties of 50 really easily because of the space and can seat up to 700 at once!
You’ll know you are at this place too because the tortillas are made practically around the clock and right there on the street, so you can walk up and buy em fresh. The tortillas are no joke too- amazing!
The cheese dip as an appetizer is pretty good, I’d start with that. And this is the restaurant week menu, which is a great deal!
Don’t mind my Mexican food eating 4 year old who decided to get a “booger wif fries” at the most Mexican place there is… [face palm]
The fried ice cream was also one of the better ones I’ve had! Also, the burritos were great, but I’d say to start with any of the chicken dishes. They have 5-7 on the menu and we decided they were the best!
This place has always had a little candy shop right inside the restaurant, that the manager told us doesn’t bring in much revenue at all, but is really more for tradition’s sake. The kids get to pick out 2 pieces of free candy if they bring their menu over. Such a charming place, and everyone was so cute to my kids. I love when restaurants take kids into consideration. It’s a great place to bring the family for sure!
Happy Restaurant Week! Be sure to check out the participating restaurants and get out there! So many yummy things. I’ll see you in the gym next week… 😉
wow this place looks great!
This restaurant looks so charming the pictures and the food looks great! Will be looking this place up when I visit In a couple weeks!
I love the authentic, vibrant Mexican charm that emanates from each photo. As a travel blogger for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, I can tell you that this restaurant and the tortilla-making station are great reflections of the essence and charm of Mexico! The next time I’m in San Diego I will definitely want to check this place out in person. Thank you so much for sharing your delicious San Diego Restaurant Week adventures. 🙂
I love Cafe Coyote! I’ll have to check them out for restaurant week. 🙂
If I ever find myself in San Diego I’m dying to try this place after your review. I don’t know if I’ve ever eaten in that large of an establishment! That’s huge.
