taste-of-downtown-2015

I love getting opportunities to try new things and local places and this is one super fun event in San Diego to remember for the future!taste of downtown san diego

My husband and I got to go to this awesome event in downtown San Diego that I WISH, oh I wish, I knew about before this year. It was perfect for us foodie-nerds and a great way to check out lots of restaurants at one time.

Taste of Downtown San Diego is an annual “feastival” and tickets are $35, unless you get them early, they are $30.

Basically, it’s like a food scavenger hunt through some unique restaurants downtown areas:Gaslamp Quarter, Downtown, East Village, and the Financial District. They had 40+ places involved and each one had samples to try. So you take your card with you and cross off each place as you go in, and try to get as many as you can in one night. We didn’t get there right at 5 and still made it to quite a few places and filled up! They usually have an appetizer-sized something like a piece of pizza, a taco, a meatball…etc. It was divine!

The Taste of Downtown is every year and seems to be right beforeĀ  San Diego Restaurant Week starts, which is also something you don’t want to miss. If you live here, or if you don’t, plan to check out both of these in the future and plan your trip around it. The local eats in San Diego seem to be very supportive of each other and so many of them are involved that the energy was so fun at each place we entered.

This was at Samurai Pie. A few pizza places in the round-up, but this one is the best. Sorry, it’s true.

We grabbed a little sparkly cheesecake near the end and then I didn’t want any more food after because it was such a tasty bite.

Definitely remember Taste of Downtown if you are planning to come out here, and especially if you are local. We made note of a handful of places we wanted to come back to try, just because we went in and felt the ambiance and had a bite.
