we live near family, which is a huge blessing.
away from our immediate family which is sometimes nice and sometimes very homesick.
luckily, our family here has us for dinner almost every sunday.
and we all look forward to it.
they have more space, better food, great company, and a sense of home you really can’t recreate anywhere here, except… home.
i always try to bring something, or at least be prepared with something if my aunt doesn’t tell me to bring anything.
this week, i tried this quick dip, added a bit to it, and it was the perfect appetizer to go with our sunday meal.
i can usually bank on this family going nuts over anything with avocado and a little heat.
it’s creamy, and light, and the heat is perfect, though you can always go more if you want.
and it takes about 5 minutes to throw together… unless you include chilling it. and i suggest you do. the boys couldn’t stay out of it long enough to let it chill, but day 2 during naptime, when it was just me and a bag of pretzel crisps, i went to town on this business!
we added it to tacos and wraps throughout the week too and it was the perfect “sauce” addition too.
it’s going on the books as a staple appetizer. done and done.
also, i used the jarred jalepenos because i wanted to use some of the vinegar/juice to help tang it up, but you certainly could use fresh too…
creamy jalapeño avocado dip
1 package 8oz cream cheese
1 avocado
1/2 cup jalapeño {i used sliced in jar}
1/2 cup cilantro
1 Tbs milk {to blend}
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
what to do:
blend it. taste it. chill it. eat it.
add more salt/garlic/jalapeños to taste, use milk or jalapeño juice to help blend, then just chill and serve with chips or crackers.
