getting rid of storage and making this space “non-functional” is the most functional thing i know how to do…

colorful apartment office space clean and organized

when we moved into this little fox hole, we knew we were compromising on space. that’s a given. but we tried initially to make every corner of this place count.

which ultimately meant that we were cramming things in corners and it looked messy, instead of functional. so part of my spring cleaning is to change spaces that we tried to make into storage back to pretty and inspiring.

cause in the end, i don’t need most of these things around anyway… so what i DO need, i can make functional, and what i don’t… get outta my house!

here’s what my desk/office nook looked like last week… ew.

{it wasn’t even worth the real camera… so here’s an iphone photo…}

see how lifeless and personality-less and cluttered that looks!!

and here it is now…

bright and cheerful office space with tons of color!

i took myself to HomeGoods last week and grabbed a few of the things up there… i painted my laugh sign and my little birdhouse too to add some color.

so, there are few things functional now… but they make the world of difference. i keep looking over at my little corner and singing, “in my own little corner in my own little chair, i can be whatever i want to be!”

cause now i actually feel that way. it’s amazing what some color can do up in here. i actually feel MORE productive when i sit down to work and i really can daydream and get more ideas cause my little space is happier. go figure. a clean and organized, uncluttered space really does wonders for productivity. note that in your colored binder for future ref, ladies!

cause you’ll ask: 2 houses, globe, chartreuse organizer, and 2 colored notebooks are from homegoods. the triangle notebook, tiny pails, and print are from target. 😉
