I took myself “back to school” shopping and found a few things I’m pretty excited about…
My 4 year old and I went school shopping, (I can’t believe I have a kid in school!) and after an afternoon with his sister and g-ma and g-pa, we decided to take another trip back to JCPenney, just he and I for a little retail therapy. And with little sister gone, it made for some good bonding time. After spending the afternoon there looking for clothes for just my son, I was itching to go back to try a few things on that I saw for “mom school…” {cough}.
This amazing Liz Claiborne bag and this shift dress might have been my favorite of the haul. Such a fun match and I could wear them all the time and never tire of the fun and bright colors!
I remember school shopping days with my mom growing up. It felt special to get a bag of new things and to go home and try them out a million ways. I felt like a rock star. So, I won’t lie. I had almost forgotten what that was like! I haven’t shopped for myself like this in a while, mostly because, well, two kids! I tried on that shift dress {first pictured} and thought of my mom who really wanted me to own a shift dress. I LOVED it thought it was my favorite find. Then the pleated chiffon skirt was so fun and when Boss saw it, he told me “you HAVE to get this mom, it’s so so beautiful!” And I’m not really one for arguing OR confrontation…
And I scored a top or two in pretty fall colors that I love like the mustard one below with a pretty scalloped edge and this other mustard chiffon blouse I love here. One of my favorite things is grabbing a few bold colors for fall to mix with prints and other colors, especially when they are unexpected colors. Like a burgundy with that teal skirt above would be pretty, or an olive or burgundy print skirt with this mustard top. {The polka dots are from my line and only on instagram right now.}
JCPenney has a fall lookbook that is fun to look through because it features empowering women in fall fashion that fit their personalities. I think it’s fabulous! I am in love with the idea that JCPenney is really working toward empowering women toward their own style. Sometimes it’s hard for a mom to find the reason to have style at all. So often we think, “what’s the point, I’m not going anywhere or doing anything important.” But the truth is, I dress the way I WANT to feel, and then everything follows! Some days I simply dress up BECAUSE it has the potential to be a crappy day. And you know what? My plans change.

Being a stay at home/work at home mom I tend to get way too comfy in yoga pants and a tank. It’s pretty amazing what I can accomplish though when I take a few minutes of self care and do a little make up and put on real clothes. I always seem to get more of my to do list tackled.
I like to wear a nice suit, with a pair of heels.

I’m usually a pretty casual dresser…jeans and a tshirt are my go-to uniform. But when I wanna feel a little extra awesome, my black skinnies are always my choice…paired with a pretty top to hide my mom tummy, I’m set for the day!
I have to feel comfortable to feel confident and get stuff done, so usually that is my comfy jeans or yoga pants and a t shirt. I definitely need to up my style game though so I don’t look like a teenager picking my 5 year old up from Kindergarten! 😉

I’ve I’m kicking butt at home then it’s fancy jammie bottoms and tanks. I work at home so I’m rarely in anything but jammies.
When I’m out in the world kicking butt I wear my one and only pair of skinny jeans with a long sweater and killer knee high boots. Sometimes with a fedora or pageboy hat, because why the hell not, right.

And I was seriously just thinking about this very thing today. I was having a slow, totally unproductive morning until I stopped to do my hair and fix my face a bit. Then, I pushed up my sleeves and rearranged all of the bedrooms until I suddenly have a room free to turn into a cute playroom! (Then, I went and gave my makeup bag a hug. Haha, JK). 🙂

Goodness my wardrobe could use a new boost! I have a favorite shirt with bright hold stripes that is of a relaxes fit paired with a pair of jeans. Also if I really want to get creative I have a bright orange skirt that is perfect for the upcoming months.
Typically I’d put on my favorite pair of skinny jeans, and a cute blouse and cardigan, if the weather permits. But, those jeans don’t fit right now. Baby weight is not my friend right now. 😉
I start with taking a shower! Just putting on real clothes and getting ready for the day helps me feel 10 times more capable ?

It’s hard to be confident in any outfit when I’m only 7 weeks post baby, but lately I’ve been loving the boho-chic look because it’s comfortable and stylish. You’ll probably see me in a lot of boho looks this fall as they hide the mama belly and are perfect for the warm AZ fall weather.
